Alors qu’il habitait dans les Highlands, loin des eaux chaudes et des palmiers, le réalisateur Thomas Horig a rencontré une petite communauté de guerriers de l’eau froide, chevauchant des vagues incroyables. Réjouissant. Une pépite de l’Atlantique.

« So, Bonnie Land » is an ode to the lesser-known surfing and waves of Scotland – a wild and beautiful place, and the folk who make it so.
Cinematographer, Thomas Horig, filmed the project over 3 years while living in the Scottish Highlands. Far from warm waters and classic surf scenes he
found a small, thriving community of dedicated cold water warriors amongst some stunning waves and imposing coastline.

Mundaka – The legendary day

Synopsis :

Le 22 septembre 2006, la scène mondiale du surf se retrouve à Hossegor pour la première étape européenne du championnat du monde. Alors que les mauvaises conditions météo contraignent les organisateurs à annuler la compétition, une superbe houle est annoncée à Mundaka.

Kelly Slater, Andy et Bruce Irons, Mick Fanning, Joel Parkison… Ces surfeurs aussi légendaires soient-ils partagent cette session d’anthologie avec des locaux comme Eneko et Kepa Acero, ou encore Aritz Aranburu, bien décidés eux aussi à surfer la houle de leur vie dans leur propre jardin. Jamais dans l’histoire du surf une telle concentration de champions n’a été vue à l’eau. Une session magique qui laissera une trace indélébile dans l’histoire du surf européen.

On September 22nd, 2006, the global surfing scene was concentrated in Hossegor for the first European stop of the World Championship. Bad wave conditions forced the organisers to cancel the competition. All looks turned then towards the village of Mundaka, where an unforgettable freesurf session was about to take place. Kelly Slater, Andy and Bruce Irons, Mick Fanning, Joel Parkison… never before in surf history had such a concentration of world champions been seen together in the water, at the same time, surfing perfect waves. But these legends had to share the Basque sands with locals such as Eneko and Kepa Acero, or Aritz Aranburu, who were also decided to surf the swell of their lives in their own backyard. A magical session that would leave a permanent mark in European surf history.
